The Cardiac Surgery Department No. 1 was opened on October 1, 2013 on the basis of the surgical building of the MRCB, deployed with 30 beds. This is the only specialized vascular department in the Republic of Mordovia, which provides scheduled and daily round-the-clock emergency care to patients with vascular pathology, as well as organizational, methodological and advisory assistance to the regions of the Republic of Mordovia.

The main direction of the department's work is the provision of round-the-clock emergency and planned medical care for the following types of vascular surgery:
- surgical treatment of patients with occlusive lesions of the abdominal aorta and arteries of the lower extremities;
- surgical treatment of peripheral arterial aneurysms;
- surgical treatment of pathology of the brachiocephalic arteries for the treatment of cerebral ischemia;
- surgical treatment of acute thrombosis of the aorta and the main arteries of the extremities;
- surgical treatment of embolism of the aorta, arteries of the upper and lower extremities;
- surgical treatment of injuries of the main vessels (various types of reconstructive operations);
- hybrid interventions (simultaneous open surgical and endovascular intervention);
- surgical and conservative treatment of acute venous thrombosis;
- surgical treatment of varicose veins of the lower extremities;
The department provides surgical care through the VMP (surgical operations on the aorta and great vessels (except for the arteries of the limbs)).
